Leadership in Inclusive Construction
ACL Construction Ltd. is committed to advancing inclusive construction practices across every region that we operate in. Through long-term partnerships, formal MOU’s and meaningful collaborations with First Nation communities, we go beyond industry standards to embed Indigenous engagement into how we plan, build and sustain our projects. We aim to build relationships and infrastructure that lasts.
Our Commitment
Our commitment to Indigenous relationships is grounded in respect, transparency and long-term partnerships. We recognize the importance of meaningful engagement and align our approach with the principles of reconciliation, economic inclusion and shared prosperity. We prioritize open dialogue, honor community values and land stewardship and ensure our projects contribute to sustainable economic growth within Indigenous communities.
Inclusion is not an initiative for us, it is a standard practice embedded across all our operations.
Accountability & Internal Practices
We show our Indigenous support through clear internal processes and leadership accountability. Formal agreements outline measurable participation goals, defined roles, and reporting expectations to ensure transparency throughout. Indigenous partnerships and subcontractors are integrated wherever we can into the project planning, strategies, and workforce development initiatives.
We ensure that inclusive construction is consistently delivered across all regions and projects.
Community Engagement & Collaboration
We begin engagement early, often prior to mobilization by connecting directly with First Nation leadership, economic development teams, and community representatives. Engagement is proactive, transparent and ongoing through the whole project. Collaboration includes local hiring, subcontracting opportunities, cultural awareness practices, and open communication channels.
Our relationships are consistent, with multiple in person meetings, along with shared planning sessions. ACL focuses on sustaining long-term relationships rooted in trust, mutual benefit and respect.
Building Opportunity
Through Collaboration
We maintain multiple Memorandums of Understanding and formal agreements with Indigenous owned companies and bands as well as multiple incorporations. These partnerships are structured to create meaningful participation through subcontracting, joint ventures and procurement opportunities.
Our commitment to long term collaboration, not a one-time agreement prioritizes economic growth, capacity building and sustainable opportunity within indigenous communities.
Community Impact
The first project we are proud to highlight is the Saulteau Cultural Centre in Chetwynd, BC. We completed the excavation & backfill for this project. This centre is serves as a vital hub for the Saulteau Community, supporting the preservation and celebration of its rich culture and heritage.
In the summer of 2021 we completed a Labyrinth down at Site C creating a peaceful space for workers and community members to reflect and reconnect.
Another huge honour we hold was the contribution to the earthworks and civil works for Phase 1 of the Parkwood Southlands Master Planned Neighbourhood. This development is closely connected to Naache Commons, where we also completed the earthworks for this first urban reserve in Northeastern BC, led by the Doig River First Nation. Together, these projects represent a significant step in building out the Nations new reserve called Gat Tah Kwą̂. The new lands are planned to integrate the Doig River into the city’s economy, and we are honored to play a part in this development.

Workforce Development Impact
In 2022 ACL partnered up with ATCO for a 16-week customized essential skill pre-employment program. The NENAS (North East Native Advancing Society) team worked directly with ATCO and us to develop a program that matches needed positions in ATCO.
